all before 9:00am

I woke up this morning to a rainy dreary day.  It has been pouring ALL DAY.   And I have been wet most of it, but it started off with a bang.

  • 6:05 am – Russ leaves for school – exam day 2 of 3.
  • 6:06 am – Piglet wakes up at the sound of the door closing
  • 6:07 am – I’m changing a 15lb wet diaper – that girl has amazing pee powers
  • 6:10 am – We play in her room a bit
  • 6:30 am – She starts asking for milk – First Breakfast
  • 6:35 am – Darn that girl – she pooped in that clean fresh diaper
  • 6:40 am – Play some more
  • 7:00 am – We have 45 extra minutes on Thursdays since we usualy get to work at 8:30, and our Little Gym class doesn’t start until 9:15.  So I clean up the house a little.  Check e-mail and blogs a little.
  • 7:30 am – Need to start getting ready.  Get Piglet distracted with toys and Blue’s Clues.  Put up baby gate at bathroom door so Piglet doesn’t climb in the shower or the toilet.
  • 7:55 am – Piglet comes to the gate crying with a bloody knee.  Still not sure how she hurt herself, but this was her first bleeding injury.  Until now it’s been lots of bruises and small scrapes.  Fix her up with neosporin and a bandaid.
  • 8:00 am – Mostly ready.  Time for Second Breakfast.
  • 8:10 am – ANOTHER POOP – FOR THE LOVE!
  • 8:15 am – Piglet is dressed and ready to go, clean diaper and all.
  • 8:30 am – Pack bag for school and work.
  • 8:45 am – I am finally dressed and ready to go with 15 minutes to spare.  woo-hoo.
  • 8:50 am – I cleaned up Piglet’s playroom with my extra time.
  • 8:58 am – Check Piglet’s diaper one last time – full AGAIN.  serious pee powers, no joke.
  • 9:00 am – Head to the car in the rain with my arms completely full.

And I realized that having a kid makes you wetter when it rains.  You have to stand in the rain as you strap them in and get them out of their car seats.  It’s near impossible to carry a squirmy toddler, two bags of stuff, a drink, and an umbrella….something had to go – it was the umbrella.  I tried holding it steady with my shoulder and my chin, but that just didn’t work.

But we made to The Little Gym by 9:15 and to school/work by 10:30 for a typical day – just wetter.  Rain – you won’t get me!
